New Jersey Brand Photography for Coaches: Amy Young of Redefine Possibility
When I photograph brands in New Jersey, I often work with coaches and consultants who want their visuals to feel grounded, human, and aligned with how they actually work. This New Jersey brand photography session with Amy Young of Redefine Possibility is a perfect example of that approach.
Since going full-time as a small business owner in 2018, I’ve become quite fascinated by the contrast between the East and West Coasts in the culture of entrepreneurship. When I go back to my home state of New Jersey, friends and family will always ask who my clients are.
“They’re coaches,” I respond.
“Like soccer and sports?” they tilt their heads in perplexion.
Sigh.
I get it. Until I was in the entrepreneur space, “life coach” was the only familiarity I had with the industry, and there was a certain stigma behind it. I suppose there still might be for anyone who isn’t in the online business space.
All this to say that if you, as a coach, find it hard to explain what you do to your friends and family…well, I understand. I have to explain that I’m taking pictures of it.
But in that, lies the need to be visible and make a splash when it comes to your branding. So I always tell my clients to hone in on the emotion their clients will feel after working with them.
Because it’s those feelings of clarity and transformation that tug most at our heartstrings. It’s the joy and relief that our clients are chasing.
And showing them through imagery will be the most powerful way to do that.
Beautiful Backdrops To Promote Ease and Freedom in these NJ Brand Photos
Amy Young is the CEO and Founder of Redefine Possibility.
When you ask her what she loves most about what she does, she says, “It’s the moment you see or hear a client have an epiphany about themselves and what is holding them back. It is literally like you can see it ‘click’ in their brain.”
Amy works with clients who are often stuck in that middle-of-your-career-what-else-am-I-doing-with-my-life stage. Many of them are looking for that next step and how to feel more fulfilled.
We had such a blast at her branding photography session, where we started off at her home. That’s where she does the bulk of her work, which comes in clutch with her three kids juggling virtual school schedules in 2020. Ultimately, she says, that’s why she started a coaching business to begin with: more time with the family.
Our session started out with some family shots, which I include as part of every New Jersey Branding Photography session - it’s never too early to get those Christmas card pictures! We moved on to her routine before school begins, which sometimes includes feeding the kids pizza for breakfast.
We hung out at Amy’s Central Jersey home where we captured great scenes in her office and all her favorite spots to do work around the house. Later, we moved on to the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Amy’s goal is to get her clients disconnected from their normal lives and find answers outside the box. Being a mom and a business owner who loves the outdoors, we heavily leaned into the nature part of her brand where she leads herself and her clients to get clarity in peace.
Our session ended with some beautiful sunset shots by a pond with lilypads, which we followed up with a glass of wine together, toasting to our new friendship in business and IRL.
