Los Angeles Branding Photography for a Fashion Stylist
You may remember April Clemmer from her Old Hollywood Tour Guide Los Angeles brand photo shoot a few years ago. Back then, April was giving tours to visitors and locals alike, showing them hidden gems and iconic spots from Old Hollywood films.
As is the story for all of us, April’s business evolved in the last few years and she recently launched a personal fashion styling business.
We knew this shoot wasn’t just about beautiful outfits — it was about creating strategic photography that reflects April’s personality, expertise, and the experience clients can expect when working with her.
This session is a great example of how we approach brand photography in Los Angeles for creative entrepreneurs who want images that feel bold, stylish, and completely aligned with their brand.
Location, Location, Location Is So Important in Los Angeles Brand Photos
It took some digging, but we ultimately found a gorgeous location in DTLA with Parisian vibes that were very similar to and paid homage to the art deco feel of April’s last brand shoot. Despite the walls and furniture all being very white, there was a lot of fun textures to incorporate into April’s shoot, such as the molding on the wall, flamingo feather tree, and the pleated velvet couch.
I’ve had many clients want to shoot in multiple locations, and sometimes we’re able to make that happen! But even with just one location we were able to create a diverse, high-impact image library by changing styling, posing, and setups — giving April plenty of versatile content to use across her website, social media, and marketing materials.
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work In Brand Photos
I have always loved being able to bring my friends to set and utilize their gifts. However, when I first started collaborating with others for photo shoots, it was hard to relinquish some of that control. I often felt like if I couldn’t handle all aspects of a brand photo shoot, then that made me a bad brand photographer, especially in the creative parts of a shoot.
However, once I was able to release that mindset and realize that having other creatives on set would ultimately make my work BETTER, magic started to happen.
This is why I love having my friend and production designer Emma Roberts at shoots. Emma, who is a jewelry designer by day, stages and creates the most amazing scenes and setups for my clients’ brands for their shoots. It is always truly a gift when I’m able to bring her onto a project.
We also had Solhaus Media team hair and makeup artist Summer Rose on set for the day. Summer has been quintessential in many of our shoots, often pulling double duty as the hair and makeup artist, and as a stand-in client (and if we’re being really honest, triple duty, because she’s also often capturing behind-the-scenes footage for me during the day, too!)
Having Summer on set all day also means that my clients have fresh faces and well-groomed and styled hair throughout the shoot, which is such a relief especially when we have long days.
Adding Video To A Los Angeles Brand Video Shoot
April knew she also wanted to get some video for her brand shoot to use for social media content and her website. We carved out time in the schedule to shoot a few b-roll clips in each scene that could formatted for both horizontal and vertical orientations later.
Including video gave April dynamic brand content she can use for social media, website headers, and marketing — not just still photos.
At the end of the day, April received a massive media library with over 150 images and 40 video clips for her new website and social media.

Solhaus Media is based in Los Angeles and nationwide.
Leah Guerra, a West LA realtor, wanted a strategic library of brand photos and vertical B-roll content to make marketing easier and more consistent. Here’s how we built a Los Angeles brand photography shoot designed for real life (and real workflows).
